Mrs. Jamara Wright was raised in Uniontown, Alabama and was educated in the Perry County School System.  After graduating from high school, she moved to Montgomery, Alabama to attend Alabama State University where she  earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and English, a master’s degree in Secondary Education and English, and a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership.

Mrs. Wright was named assistant principal of Francis Marion School in 2015.  Prior to accepting this position, she served as an 8th grade English/Language Arts teacher for five years in Selma City Schools where she worked with staff, families, community members, and other stakeholders to offer the best possible educational opportunities for students.

In a steadily-changing, demanding, and competitive society, it is important to Mrs. Wright that her young scholars become critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and productive citizens.  She aims to ensure that students master the foundational skills, be responsible, respectful, and supportive of one another, keep a positive attitude, and always strive for the best.

When she is not working, Mrs. Wright enjoys reading novels and spending time with her husband,  Coach Derek Wright.
