Mr. Jackson is a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and he is a graduate of Warren Central High School Class of 1997. His birthday is May 1, 1979. He graduated from Coahoma Community College with an A.A. degree in athletic administration (1999). Mr. Jackson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Stillman College (2002). He continued higher education at the University of West Alabama, and he earned a Master of Art in Teaching Degree in Physical Education (2005). Mr. Jackson also earned his Education Administration Certification (2019) and Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership at the University of West Alabama (2021).
Mr. Jackson's goal has always been to help young men and women to become productive and responsible citizens. He will be entering his 19th year in education, and his first year as the Principal at Francis Marion School. Mr. Jackson has 16 years of coaching and teaching experience, and he has 2 years of education administration experience as an assistant principal. Mr. Jackson taught physical education at North Birmingham Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School (Tuscaloosa), Greene County High School, Eutaw Primary School, Holt High School, and Livingston Jr. High School. He has been the defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator at Stillman College. Mr. Jackson was the defensive coordinator at Central Tuscaloosa High School (2007), and they won the Alabama High School 4A Football State Championship. He was the head football coach at Greene County High School, and his teams made the Alabama 4A state playoffs twice along with four consecutive winning seasons. He also helped numerous high football players earn football athletic scholarships. He was also the head football coach at Holt High School. Mr. Jackson was the head 8th grade boys’ basketball coach at Livingston Jr. High School. His 8th team was county champions. He was the assistant principal at Irondale Community School in Jefferson County. He led successful programs like ICS Boys Club, intramural sports, PBIS, and other committees at Irondale Community School. He believes in leading by example.
Mr. Jackson is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Incorporated, CLAS, and Alabama High School Athletic Association. He was awarded the Black Belt Education of the Year Award in 2011. He also was a 2016 NCAA/NFL Coaching Academy participant. Mr. Jackson is known for establishing Boys’ Clubs at numerous schools, PBIS programs, and building community partnerships.
Mr. Jackson believes in fostering relationships and utilizing effective professional learning communities to help continue to improve student achievement for our CHAMPIONS at Francis Marion School. We C.A.R.E. (Character, Attitude, Respect, and Educate), and we are a T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) at Francis Marion School.
